Bikeability: helping kids to race ahead!
Bikeability is the new cycle training for the 21st century, designed to give the next generation of children the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads at the government-approved national standard.
We arrange two levels of training here at Welland. Children in Year 5 take part in Level 1 which is playground-based, learning the basic skills required to ride safely and the principles of riding on the road but in a controlled environment.
Children in Year 6 take part in Level 2 where training takes place on the roads following initial assessments.
On the course they learn how to be safe on the road by teaching them the entire road essentials like how to do a left turn out of a junction and a right also things like a u turn and many more skills. . Bikeability is very important for the children.
